A new book highlights the life and legacy of Quiester Craig, the longtime dean of North Carolina A&T State University’s School of Business and Economics. Written by alumna Tanya Mitchell, More Than a Dean explores Craig’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a transformative leader in higher education.
Over more than four decades, Craig helped elevate the business school into a nationally respected program while preparing generations of students for careers in business and leadership. His leadership emphasized academic excellence, mentorship, and expanding opportunities—particularly for students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
The book also reflects Craig’s broader impact on advancing equity in education and opening doors for students entering the corporate world. His influence extended beyond the classroom, shaping the careers and lives of countless alumni who credit him for their professional success.
